Julian Historic Hunt, Julian, California

 The Julian Historic Hunt is an ongoing challenge.

Drue Bailey House

Drue Bailey grundlagde Julian i 1870, og opkaldte byen efter hans fætter Mike Julian.
Huset er nu restaurant uden fast åbningstid, hvor ejerinden vil servere stor middag efter aftale.

Drue Bailey founded Julian in 1870, naming the town after his cousin Mike Julian.
The house is now a restaurant without regular hours, where the owner serves large dinners by appointment.

 

Witch Creek School

Denne bygning var Witch Creeks skole fra 1888 til 1954. Den blev flyttet til Julian i 1974, hvor den blev brugt som folkebibliotek indtil for nylig.

This building was Witch Creek's School from 1888 to 1954. It was moved to Julian in 1974, where it was in use as public library until recently.

 

The Julian Jail

Kachotten i Julian blev bygget i 1914, og blev længe betragtet som værende luksuriøs.
Fængslets toilet var længe byens eneste indendørs WC.

The jail in Julian was built in 1914, and was long considered to be luxurious.
The jail's toilet was for a while the only indoor toilet in town.

 

Porter Perrin Wheaton's Wheelbarrow

Porter Perrin Wheaton arbejdede som landmåler i 1894, og brugte denne trillebør til opmålingen. Til fods opmålte han på knap otte måneder 3746 km af San Diego amts landeveje.

Porter Perrin Wheaton worked as a surveyor in 1894, and used this wheelbarrow for his survey. On foot he surveyed in just under eight months 2328 miles of San Diego county country roads.

Francis Lewis "F. L." Blanc House

Francis Lewis Blanc var den første fuldtids præst i Julians baptistkirke fra 1893 til 1920.
Derudover var han bygmester, dommer, handelsmand, og far til otte.

Francis Lewis Blanc was the first fulltime pastor of the Julian Baptist Church from 1893 to 1920.
He was also a contractor, judge, merchant, and father of eight.

Julian's Washington Mine

Washington Mine er den guldmine, hvor der først blev fundet guld i Julian, hvilket gav årsag til byens eksistens. Der er meget lidt tilbage af minen, blot en mindesten og dette skur fyldt med gammelt mineudstyr.
Mineskakterne er blevet lukket af.

Washington Mine is the goldmine where gold was first found in Julian, causing the creation of the town. Very little remains of the mine, just a memorial and this shed filled with mining gear.
The mine shafts have been closed off.
